Development Plan

Starting Point: Conceptual Incubation (1994-1996) -- IN THE BEGINNING CBD creator Enrique Montiel took a select set of human potential concepts and applied them toward an abandoned life teenage dream. He utilized the power of the mind to pursue becoming an Olympic athlete and in 1996 became an All-American and Final U.S. Olympic Team Trials qualifier as a Greco-Roman wrestler. He accomplished this with no collegiate background and with only four months of training.

Phase 1: 20usa00 (1997–2000) -- Target 2000 Olympics -- Enrique made a decision to develop a systemized process for world class performance achievement and created the first version of the Champion By Design success model. In 2000 Enrique once again qualified for and competed in the Final U.S. Olympic Team Trials at a forced weight gain of 22lbs from his 1996 season. From 1996 to 2000 Enrique was one of only three Olympic style wrestlers remaining in competition after a genocide within his sport that eliminated the first two weight classifications. This genocide was due to an international rules modification that occured between the 1996 and 2000 Olympic quadrenium. His private research between 1997 and 2000 grew into the Institute vision of today.

Phase II: CBD2k4 (2001 – 2004) -- Target 2004 Olympics -- The main focus of Phase II was the completion of the CBD2k4 phase of the Champion By Design Research Study. This phase included researching, documenting and preparing the CBD model for formal application as a systematic process to realize the Champion By Design mission.

Phase III: CBD2k8 (2005–2008) -- 2008 Champions -- Phase III includes sponsoring competitive elite world class athletes at various levels through scholarships with heavy emphasis toward the 2008 Olympics.

Phase IV: CBD2k12 (2012 and Beyond) -- The focus of Phase IV is to begin the dissemination of information completed in Phase III, through the web, publications and youth and community events. The goals of the Institute will be reexamined in four-year intervals, parallel to Olympic cycles. We anticipate maintaining an Olympic focus through scholarshipping and training, and look forward to expanding our community outreach through increased youth camps and other programs.
